Meet Augusto
Meet Augusto Vieira. 34 years old, moved here from Brazil and has been a Potatoholic since 2016. He started as a packing operator and became an environmental officer in October. The latest change allows him to pursue his passion again, which ties in with his studies in Brazil.
What brought Augusto to Belgium?
Love, what else? He met his wife, Sophie, while she was on an internship in Brazil. She taught English to children living in poverty. He was an environmental officer associated with a large construction project.
They moved to Belgium together, got married and became the proud parents of Freya. Unfortunately, his Brazilian qualifications could not be evaluated, which led to Augusto taking up work at a manufacturing company.
Growth opportunities at Agristo
Augusto worked at a manufacturing company for a while, but he soon started looking for an employer that could offer growth opportunities. Enter Agristo.
He started as a packing operator while taking Dutch classes with us. “I am very happy to have been offered all these opportunities. The language classes meant I was able to complete the training and tasks without issue,” Augusto says.
The next step did not take long: Head of Packing. Augusto also took French language classes for that.
In the environmental department
Augusto completed environmental officer training at Agristo. After passing the necessary tests, he started working at the environmental department in late 2023, and the circle is complete. His focus is currently on the water treatment system.
