My dream has come true; I now aspire to become an excellent technician
Meet Samim
Samim worked as an IT professional in his home country of Afghanistan. In Belgium, however, it was difficult to find a job as an IT professional, so he started as an operator in Wielsbeke two years ago. Nevertheless, he never lost his passion for the technical world he was a part of in Afghanistan. “I expressed my interest in technology from day one. I love solving problems, working with tools and finding new solutions,” Samim says enthusiastically.
Technical learning pathway
When our technical department needed additional support, Samim seized the opportunity. In consultation with Learning & Development, a personalised learning pathway was designed. This pathway started with a basic engineering course tailored by Agristo.
An intensive eight-day course on pneumatics, electromechanics and electricity followed this. The course was taught in English, which was perfect for Samim as a non-native speaker. His tremendous motivation and ambition ensured that he successfully completed the course. Today, Samim is a valuable force on the technical team,
but his learning journey does not end here; Samim is being taken in tow to create a future-proof training programme for all our technicians.
Eyes on the future
Samim believes it is important to highlight ambitions or dreams at work, and we couldn't agree more: Eyes on the future is one of our core values. This helps identify individual or collective training needs, among other things. Samim is thrilled that his dream has become a reality and looks forward to what lies ahead. His ambition is now to become an excellent technician! 💪
